Affectionately known as the People’s Republic of Cambridge,
Cambridge is a city quite different from Boston, even though it’s just across
the river.Dominated, of course, by
Harvard University and MIT, Cambridge nevertheless has lots of different
residential areas with their own charms.
The most popular areas of Cambridge are Cambridgeport and
then all the “Squares” — Harvard Square, Inman Square, Porter Square, Central
Square and Kendall Square.
Real estate in Cambridge has always been at a premium, both
for rental and for purchase. Some areas
are dominated by single family homes, but the majority of housing is in the
form of condominiums in smaller, low-rise buildings.
